Johnstown, PA – August 22, 2024 – UMF Medical is proud to announce the launch of its groundbreaking Equipment Life Cycle Management (ELCM) program, specifically designed to support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VHA) in making more informed, cost-effective purchasing decisions for medical equipment.

For decades, the VHA has faced challenges in managing the total cost of ownership for its medical equipment. Often, products that initially seem cost-effective are more expensive to maintain over their lifespan. The ELCM program directly addresses this issue by providing VA facilities with a transparent and predictable cost structure for the expected lifecycle of examination tables.

Key Features of the ELCM Program:

  • Comprehensive Coverage: The ELCM program offers two distinct exam table models. The program’s pricing includes the cost of the table itself, along with all necessary service, labor, and spare parts required to keep it operational for ten years.
  • Replacement Flexibility: The program also includes the option for VA facilities to receive one replacement top per serial number acquired. This flexibility ensures that the facility is covered even if multiple tops are needed for a single table, provided they are within the number of tables initially purchased.
  • Support for Understaffed Biomed Departments: Recognizing the challenges faced by many VA Biomed Departments, which are often understaffed and focused on maintaining life-saving or diagnostic devices, the ELCM program ensures that exam tables remain operational without diverting critical resources. This allows Biomed Departments to prioritize their efforts on higher-utilized equipment while ensuring the consistent maintenance of their exam tables.

“Our ELCM program represents a significant convenience in how the VA can manage the costs associated with their medical equipment,” said Dan Cheever, Vice President of Global Sales at UMF Medical. “By offering a transparent and inclusive process, we empower the VA to make smarter, long-term investments that ultimately enhance their ability to serve our nation’s veterans.”
