Job Description
Opportunity for experienced Buyer to join Supply Chain team in a growing Medical Device manufacturing company. Buyer will help facilitate on-time delivery of critical components, improve supplier performance and help to manage inventory levels to ensure business continuity. Plays a critical role in executing supply chain strategy to manage costs and create profitability for the company. Collaborates with a cross functional team internally and reports to Director of Operations. Demonstrates core values of commitment, 5-Star customer experience, teamwork, innovative growth mindset, and checking ego at the door.
Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for identifying and procuring goods and services at a fair and reasonable price
- Solicit quotes, issue annual contracts based on forecast, review requisitions and release POs for the entire life cycle of the Products.
- Coordinate with logistics and ensure JIT delivery.
- Work with stakeholders and peers (Sourcing, Quality, Material Coordinators, Planning, Transportation, Engineers, Finance) to ensure requests are fulfilled.
- Improve supplier relationships and performance (service, on-time delivery, quality, reconciliation of invoices, POs and documentation).
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement/Kaizen events to improve Purchasing productivity and reduce pain points.
- Implement Inspection procedures and controls
- Participate in learning and implementing ERP system
Experience Required
- 2-5 years’ experience in Material Planning and Purchasing within a manufacturing environment, sheet metal fabrication preferred.
Skills Required
- Work effectively with all types of personalities and provide excellent customer service to Suppliers, Customers and Team Members
- Understanding of the Supply Chain, and ability to use critical thinking and decision-making skills to optimize the flow of materials and know when to ship by air, ground, or sea transportation.
- Comprehension of part and change order specification requirements
- Ability to follow standard work instructions and flex with the business changes
- Understanding of accounting principles and practices to best manage inventory, open POs, prevent PPV, reconciliation issues, and scrap, and pay Suppliers accurately and on-time.
- Excellent communication skills (listening, presentation, interpersonal, written) with leaders, managers, stakeholders, peers and suppliers
- MRP and ERP experience to plan and place POs to support the Production lines
- Project Management experience
- Continuous learner in evolving best practices of Supply Chain Management
- Introductory understanding of Kaizens: Six Sigma and Lean, Kanban and end-to-end Supply Chain
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's degree.
- Project Management experience.
- ISM (Institute for Supply Chain Management) Certification.
- NAPM National Association of Purchasing Managers) Certification.
- APICS/CPIM Certification
- Lean Six Sigma or alternative Continuous Improvement Certification
- Epicor Vantage/Kinetics experience
Computer Skills
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Products, particularly Excel
- MRP and ERP systems experience to plan, place POs, support production lines, and ability to learn new systems quickly.

This job allows for autonomy and independence while working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and understanding and following direction. Buyer is a valued member of Integrated Supply Chain Team who works closely with Inventory Manager, Operations, Sales, and New Product Development Teams.
